Is There an Age Limit for Laser Eye Surgery in Cape Coral?
If you’re considering laser eye surgery, one of the most common questions patients ask is: “Is there an age limit for laser eye surgery?” The answer isn’t a simple yes or no—but age does play an essential role in determining if you're a good candidate.
At the Cataract & Refractive Institute of Florida, laser eye surgery is not recommended for patients under the age of 21 due to ongoing development in the eyes. Until around this age, the eyes are still undergoing changes, and the prescription may not yet be stable. Performing laser eye surgery too early can increase the risk of complications and may negatively impact long-term eye health. For this reason, we advise waiting until vision has fully stabilized before considering surgery.
As a recognized leader in ophthalmology in Southwest Florida, the Cataract & Refractive Institute of Florida is committed to delivering the highest standards of diagnostic and treatment services in a welcoming, patient-centered environment. Our mission is to provide exceptional and lasting eye care you can trust.
